Courts order SM Entertainment to pay compensation for hindering JYJ’s activities

On February 21st, the Seoul Central District Court has ordered SM Entertainment to pay compensation to JYJ for indirectly restricting and hindering their activities.

The court stated, “SM Entertainment should not have hindered JYJ’s celebrity activities. For this violation, we demand that SM Entertainment pay JYJ $17,000 USD for every time they have obstructed or will obstruct JYJ’s activities.”

They continued, “Even though a preliminary decision was made on October 27th 2009 to nullify their exclusive contracts, SM Entertainment conducted a press conference on November 11th 2009, through which they stated that JYJ must still abide by the terms of their exclusive contract. Additionally on October 2nd 2010, the agency sent certified requests to Warner Music Korea, requesting to stop the production and distribution of JYJ’s world-wide album.”

“We recognize these acts as impeding on JYJ’s celebrity activities and made the decision to put down this order.”

The CEO of CJ Entertainment, Park Chang Ju, expressed, “There remains a lot of mountains we must cross. It’s still a frustrating situation, where we must overcome even more barriers for JYJ to meet the public.”

SHINee shares a ’sexy’ photo, drinking habits, and Taemin’s mental age

SHINee fans were delighted with the candid interview the boys had on the February 18th episode of KBS 2TV’s “Entertainment Relay“.

The interview kicked off with member Jonghyun revealing that he didn’t think himself to be handsome. This prompted the members to ask Jonghyun about what his mother thought, and with a laugh, Jonghyun responded, “She thinks I’m handsome.”

He then shared a childhood photo where he’s posing in just his swim trunks. He grinned, “I was a lot prettier as a child“, and the show put up the caption “Sexy Jonghyun” next to the photo, which amused viewers greatly.

When asked to choose a physical attribute that he was confident in (aside from his looks), Jonghyun replied, “Shoulders, maybe?”

During the show’s ‘truth’ corner, member Minho was asked to choose his ideal woman, to which he shyly replied, “I like women older than me.”

When asked why, he continued, “For some reason, I like older women more than younger women. I feel more comfortable and at ease.”

The reporter then revealed that she had heard Onew was quite the drinker. Although Onew refused to admit it, Key confessed, “Onew-hyung pours the alcohol! He doesn’t just drink it, he pours it into his body!”

Taemin was then asked whether he thought he had the oldest mental age in the group. He replied, “False!“, and then attempted to go into a long and serious discussion to have some fun with the question.

Minho continued, “When we aren’t able to take care of him, he always tells us it’s okay and is always trying to be understanding.”

Song Joong Ki lost contact with Yoo Ah In after winning the "Best Couple Award"

On February 19th, actor Song Joong Ki guested on KBS 2TV’s “Entertainment Relay” and confessed that his relationship with Yoo Ah In became really awkward ever since the ‘2010 KBS Acting Awards‘.

Earlier, we reported that the two were nominated for the ‘Best Couple Award’ at the 2010 KBS Acting Awards for their roles as ‘Yeorim’ and ‘Geol Oh’ in “Sungkyunkwan Scandal“.

Although their characters were depicted as ‘just friends’, the relationship garnered enough interest and votes to eventually win the ‘Best Couple Award’. At the time, Yoo Ah In had wittily stated during his awards speech, “You all are really persistent!”

The reporter asked, “When you search for ‘Song Joong Ki’, Yoo Ah In’s name comes up in the related search term box. Do you guys still keep in contact?”

Song Joong Ki answered, “Honestly, it’s gotten sparse. Votes for us really dominated the ‘Best Couple Award’ poll, and it was actually quite surprising. I lost contact with Yoo Ah In after that (laughter).”

When asked to record a video message for his former castmate, Song Joong Ki stated, “I used to call you ‘Ah In-ah’ before, but I guess now it’s ‘Ah In-ssi’, how are you? It’s gotten a bit awkward.”

Seoul Central District Court dismisses both of SME’s injunctions against JYJ

On February 17th, the Seoul Central District Court dismissed both lawsuits filed by SM Entertainment against JYJ.

To recap, SM Entertainment filed an objection on October 27th, 2009, claiming that the Seoul Central District Court’s order to prevent them from interfering with JYJ’s individual activities was illegal.

The court rejected SM’s injunction objection application by stating, “The exclusive contract between SM and JYJ forces the celebrity to become subordinate to the agency without any discretion. JYJ has no option but to follow SM’s actions due to the subordinate rank they are forced under in the power of SM. A long-term subordinate contract cannot be justified by the risks the agency took in investments, as well as international advancements.”

They continued, ”Aside from the long-term contract terms, SM’s ability to supervise and direct every move made by JYJ, as well as the clause claiming that JYJ must repay for losses only emphasizes the subordinate positions of JYJ in the contract, so the injunction is invalid.”

Regarding the second injunction filed by SM Entertainment, asking the court to suspend JYJ’s contract with CJES Entertainment, the court replied by saying that the injunction is invalid since SM Entertainment was ordered on October 27th, 2009 that they were to not interfere with JYJ’s individual activities, and their injunction was in breach of that order.

Baek Chang Ju, CEO of CJES Entertainment, commented, “We consider it a victory of truth and hope that their activities are no longer hindered by forced accusations of double contracts. We will be working hard to show only the best side of JYJ to the public. I would like to thank the JYJ members and the staff for consistently battling a tiring fight against Goliath.”

In conclusion, the exclusive contract between SM and JYJ is invalid, and JYJ’s individual activities are legal.

[UPDATE #1]

Representatives of SM Entertainment stated in the aftermath of the ruling, “The legal battle between SM and JYJ is not yet over. This court decision is merely regarding a preliminary injunction, this does not mean that the exclusive contract between SM and JYJ is invalid. The original lawsuit is still ongoing, and the date of pleading will be sometime in mid-March. Through the original lawsuit, the truth will be investigated, and we will be working to make sure that their contracts are still valid.”

[UPDATE #2]

Meanwhile, Xiah Junsu tweeted to thank the fans, in response to the ruling, “All of you fans did not let go of the dangerous and risky string and helped us in withstanding everything.. Even when the string bled through our skin and wounded us, it was because all of you that cleaned and treated us that we were able to hold on until the end.. Thank you, genuinely.”

KARA trio rejects KSA president Tae Jin Ah’s arbitration?

Recently, it was announced that the president of the Korean Singers Association, Tae Jin Ah, personally decided to arbitrate the dispute between KARA and DSP Media. It was reported today that the three members of KARA have firmly refused to accept the Association’s intervention.

The representatives of the three members were in discussions with Tae Jin Ah until 5:00 PM KST on February 17th to talk about possible mutual agreements with DSP Media. Unfortunately, however, the discussion ended with the following statement from KARA, “We cannot come to agreements with the proposed cases.”

A representative of the KARA trio revealed to OSEN, “The initial issue that the three KARA members had expressed concerns over has still not been resolved, so unfortunately, the lawsuit must go on.”

With regards to the public’s discontented opinions on this on-going matter, the representative stated, “We are aware of the public’s opinion. We will be opening a conference sometime next week and reveal our perspective in full detail.”

Meanwhile, the KARA trio recently dissolved their partnership with their previous lawyers, Landmark, to begin fresh with the Hankyul law firm.

[UPDATE]

Through TV Report, Tae Jin Ah revealed that earlier reports of KARA’s trio rejecting arbitration was false. “On the 17th, Nicole’s mother called and asked to postpone discussions until the 19th. I cannot understand why reports of the trio rejecting arbitration were released. It’s difficult to believe, especially since we have not received any contact from representatives of the three.”

In a conflicting report, through Newsen, Tae Jin Ah announced, “Responses were originally scheduled to be given by 5 PM KST on the 17th, but have been postponed to 12 PM KST on the 18th.

KARA’s trio ditches Landmark, hires Hankyul as their legal representative

KARA’s legal dispute with DSP Media has now developed into a battle between professional law firms.

DSP Media was hit with a lawsuit three days ago from KARA’s Seungyeon, Nicole, and Jiyoung, and unable to avoid a legal battle, went ahead by bringing in Sejong Law Firm’s Im Sang Hyuk. Sejong is one of the representative law firms in the nation, as it houses over 300 lawyers by itself.

KARA’s trio, who had been working with Landmark ever since the start of this dispute, was recently revealed to have been in a secret meeting with Hankyul Law Firm on February 16th. Representatives of the trio asked Hankyul to take on their case, and Hankyul accepted.

Hankyul is known for their work in the entertainment industry, as they made headlines in 2005 for taking on the ‘celebrity x-files’ case. Hankyul is also responsible for 60% of the film distribution companies in the nation.

The legal representative KARA’s trio chose from Hankyul, Kim Jin Wook, has previous experience working with Super Junior’s Han Geng in his lawsuit against SM Entertainment. KARA’s trio were revealed to have been adamant with their decision on Kim, especially since he won the lawsuit.

Considering the fact that DSP Media is backed by Im Sang Hyuk, who’s currently the legal representative for JYJ against SM Entertainment, industry representatives have interpreted the trio’s move in switching out their lawyers to mean that they are now ready to put up an aggressive fight.

DSP Media reveals KARA’s full income and contract information

Three days after KARA’s Seungyeon, Nicole, and Jiyoung filed their lawsuit against DSP Media, the agency’s legal representatives have released an official statement refuting the girls’ claims.

On the morning of February 17th, DSP Media’s legal representative, Im Sang Hyuk, spoke with Star News and stated, “It’s said that the lawsuit was filed on February 14th, but it was actually filed on the 11th. Their accusation has not arrived yet, but DSP Media will be preparing to take legal action. This case is different in various ways from the TVXQ lawsuit.” (Im is also the lawyer for JYJ against SM Entertainment.)

He continued, “The representatives of the three KARA members claimed that each member only received $860 USD from January through June of 2010 from album sales made during their ‘Lupin‘ promotions. Their claim made it seem as if this amount was all that the members received for their income during this time period, but they are hiding the accurate truth.”

Im continued, “Aside from their album sales, KARA was distributed a total of $200,000 USD per member from income made through CFs, events, broadcast appearances, digital sales, and mobile sales.”

DSP Media’s lawyer further revealed that all promotional expenses were taken out from the income made through their album sales, and the girls were given a total of $1 million USD during this promotional period, which was divided into $200,000 USD per member.

Im further claims that Landmark’s demands for a change in administration was an invasion of DSP Media’s administration rights. “After Lee Ho Yeon CEO was hospitalized, his wife received full administrative rights and successfully advanced KARA into Japan. She has done absolutely nothing wrong. Because of this, Landmark demanding that the company change administrators is an invasion of DSP Media’s right of management.”

He continued, “KARA’s contracts have already passed the evaluation review by the Fair Trade Commission. There is nothing wrong with their contracts, which is why we believe that Landmark is acting as if these three members experienced a loss in their income.”

Im concluded, “We will continue to attempt discussions, but now that the three members have already taken legal action, we will be responding in the same manner.”

Big Bang to simultaneously promote six title tracks?

When it comes to keeping people on their toes, it can be argued that YG Entertainment rains supreme in unconventionality. With Big Bang’s mini-album set to drop in just over a week, it looks like the popular quintet is going over the top with their return.

Although the members have worked in solo and duo units (G-Dragon’s Heartbreaker, Taeyang’s Wedding Dress, GD&TOP’s High High and Seungri’s VVIP & What Can I Do), this will mark an enormous return after two years on group hiatus. In an ambitious move that is anticipated to make up for the long absence, a YGE representative revealed according to the Japanese source Chosun Ilbo, “On February 24, Big Bang will be released their fourth mini-album. Except for the intro song, there are plans to promote all six title tracks at the same time.

Because the Japanese source is vague about what this exactly means, it is unclear whether this will apply to the entire promotional period or just theSBS hour-long comeback special. If Big Bang were indeed promoting all six tracks after the special, this wouldn’t mark the first time that YG Entertainment would be implementing this strategy for promotions: last autumn, 2NE1 promoted three tracks simultaneously as well.

Some potential weaknesses in this strategy include the greater amount of time and effort necessary for the promotions of six tracks over one, which includes different choreography sets (possibly leading to exhaustive practices), varying wardrobes and more, not to mention the immense amount of money that would be poured into multiple music videos. Furthermore, the equal investment & promotion distributed into six tracks makes it more difficult for each track to rank highly on music charts.

Also, while 2NE1 was able to balance the promotion of three tracks, there’s the possibility that bringing that number up to six may actually detract from promotions, as there would be too many choices to focus on (read more about the psychology here). While the idea may sound exciting, spreading the attention over so many tracks inevitably means less individual appreciation for each track.

Again, although the aforementioned source claims to contain a quote from a YGE representative, we remain skeptical that this has been truly verified and instead may have been the work of a few netizens. Either way, with Big Bang’s immense fame and source coupled with the hype building up for this comeback, we’re anticipating success from this group’s return on all fronts. Who can’t wait for Big Bang to be back?!

Han Seungyeon’s father makes controversial statement regarding KARA-DSP Media dispute

[Original Title: Han Seungyeon's father blames leader Park Gyuri for KARA-DSP Media dispute]

Recently, Han Seungyeon’s father was interviewed on a Japanese program, and he firmly singled out KARA’s leader, Park Gyuri, as the underlying cause between KARA’s dispute with DSP Media.

On this week’s broadcast of Fuji TV’s ”Super News“, the reporter asked Han Seung Yeon’s father, Han Jong Chil, about who he thought was mainly responsible for KARA’s dispute. He replied, “I think the leader is acting with no responsibilities. This happened because of bad communication.”

He continued, “As KARA kept growing, the agency failed to be a good back support for them. The kids’ futures have become unstable.”

Han Jong Chil stated that the “members never had conflicts and disputes between each other”, but this is the first time someone has pointed their fingers at a particular member.

Netizens commented, “Why is he doing interviews like this in Japan?”, and “You can’t put all the blame onto the leader.”

[UPDATE]

We know there’s been a lot of confusion floating around, simply because the Korean media is postulating that Han Seungyeon’s father said it was Gyuri who was the underlying cause of the KARA-DSP Media conflict.

After reviewing the video clip and conferring with our Japanese colleagues, it’s come to our understanding that the only time Gyuri’s name was brought up was in the Japanese subtitles; Han Seungyeon’s father did not specifically name Gyuri as the problem, he just mentioned ‘leader’.

Some viewers took this to mean the literal leader of KARA, which would be Park Gyuri, but others are starting to believe that he’s referring to the acting CEO of DSP Media.

At this point, we’re not sure if the Japanese program had misconstrued the interview, or if Han Seungyeon’s father meant to play a game of inferences. We’ll be keeping a close eye on the situation to see if Han Seungyeon’s father will make an official statement.

Again, for the sake of clarity, we’ve decided to post this update to explain clearly that while the Korean media is running with the explanation that Gyuri is the cause, we’re saying to please keep an open mind until either an official statement is made, or facts are provided.

KSA President Tae Jin Ah intervenes to mediate KARA/DSP Media dispute

As lawsuit complications between the three members of KARA and DSP Media become more and more troubled with turbulence and uncertainties, veteran singer and president of the Korean Singers Association, Tae Jin Ah, recently came forth to intervene in an attempt to settle the situation.

A representative of Tae Jin Ah told Newsen on February 15th, “The presidents of the Korean Entertainment Producers Association and the Korean Singers Association, Ahn Jung Dae and Tae Jin Ah, have been in discussions for several hours in an attempt to resolve problems between KARA and their agency. Nothing is known in detail, however after receiving information from both sides, we are aware that the members of KARA are also in discussions with DSP Media.”

They continued, “The Korean Singers Association has been managing the Victim Complaints Center to resolve unfair misconduct of singers. The center received information about the current situation of the three KARA members, and when Tae Jin Ah was informed, he decided to personally arbitrate the matter.”

“The biggest problem between the agency and the three members seems to lie in the allegedly unfair sharing of revenue. We think the depth of the conflict is deeper than we first thought.”

“If KARA disbands, not only is it a big loss to the country, but the media will also begin to take notice of every move of the rough patches between a singer and their agency, thus bringing forth unnecessary noise into the industry. We hoped for the situation to resolve as quietly as possible, so we were really upset when KARA’s side filed a lawsuit.”

The representative concluded, “Even though Tae Jin Ah is slowly urging for both sides to reconcile, we feel that it will not be easy to find an immediate agreement.”

According to the representative, Tae Jin Ah is encouraging the three members of KARA to take action, while also asking for the agency to have a more open mind about the singers’ perspectives.

DSP Media releases official statement regarding KARA’s lawsuit

After being hit with a lawsuit yesterday by KARA’s Seungyeon, Nicole, and Jiyoung, DSP Media released an official statement about their position on February 14th.

Through a press report, the agency stated,

“Because we were not delivered the accusation yet, we will speak with a lawyer once it is delivered and take the appropriate action then. Aside from the lawsuit, we will do our absolute best to ensure that KARA’s future activities are fulfilled.

Their claims of flawed income distribution is a huge distortion. All of the payments made by DSP Media were done according to their contracts, and this will be further confirmed through the process of the lawsuit.

The legal process has begun, and we hope that the three KARA members will refrain from making one-sided claims that are unconfirmed. DSP Media will also be refraining from making any statements outside of the legal discussion, like we have done thus far. We will be prioritizing KARA’s future, no matter the lawsuit. DSP Media will make sure that this controversy is resolved in an amicable matter.

Before the three members of KARA filed the lawsuit, we have made repeated attempts to resolve the situation. While we were looking forward to discussions and for misunderstandings to be resolved, the lawsuit has taken us by surprise.”

KARA’s Nicole, Seungyeon, & Jiyoung formally file a lawsuit against DSP Media!

The contract termination dispute between KARA’s Seungyeon, Nicole, and Jiyoung against DSP Media has escalated into a legal battle.

On February 14th, representatives of the three members filed a lawsuit against DSP Media, asking the Seoul Central District Court to confirm that their three exclusive contracts were invalid. They also claimed that their incomes were not distributed fairly.

Through their head representative, the three members of KARA stated, “Without prior compromise, the agency deducted promotional fees from our income without our consent, which is classified under embezzlement. From January through June of 2010, we brought in $410,000 USD in income, while the promotional expenses amounted to $390,000 USD. The expenses are abnormally excessive.”

They continued, “Even when ‘Lupin‘ was at its highest point in popularity, DSP Media only paid $860 USD per member for a total of six months. The $140 USD that we were paid a month is unfair compared to the income that we brought in.”

Landmark previously sent notice to DSP Media regarding the termination of the three contracts on January 19th. Although the members resumed their scheduled activities, the two parties were not able to come to an agreement during their repeated attempts at reconciliation over the course of 25 days.

The dispute’s escalation into a legal battle has caught both fans and industry representatives off guard, and many are speculating about what this could mean for KARA as a unit of five.

A representative of DSP Media spoke through Sports Today and stated, “We’re shocked. We met several times, but it is true that the dispute went back to first base with each discussion. But because of their ‘URAKARA‘ filming in Japan, we agreed to speak with their parents upon their return. Now that we found out that they filed a lawsuit, we’re just shocked. First of all, we will be having a meeting within our company first before releasing further statements.”

The representative also told Star News, “Their head representative claimed that the girls only received $860 USD per member for six months of their ‘Lupin’ promotions, but that is truly ridiculous. We deducted six months worth of their entire promotional expenses from the profits made off of their album sales. Thus, we did not deduct anything from their promotions in other areas such as CFs. Unlike what the three are claiming, we paid them a larger sum, but they’re claiming as if we’ve embezzled.

KARA’s Nicole, Seungyeon and Jiyoung filed a lawsuit against DSP Media earlier today, and it was revealed that they will be holding a press conference by February 15th at the earliest to state their stand.

A representative stated, “On the 15th or 16th, representatives of the three members will be holding a press conference and announce their positions in a more detailed fashion.”

The attendance of the three members has yet to be confirmed, as KARA is scheduled to leave for Japan on the 17th to continue their activities there.

Interestingly enough, industry representatives claim that during the time that they were in Korea, the three KARA members attended recording sessions for their new Japanese album with their other groupmates.

This attendance, however, was done under the agreement made with DSP Media on January 27th to fulfill all pre-scheduled activities prior to the dispute. This agreement also includes their Japanese activities, which explains why the group must return to Japan as complete unit in order to continue filming for their drama, ”URAKARA“.

Though KARA is scheduled to depart on the 17th, Jiyoung will be leaving a day earlier due to a personal schedule.

SBS to air hour-long Big Bang comeback special

After confirming their official comeback plans yesterday, Big Bang will now be meeting with their fans through an hour-long SBS special called “Big Bang Comeback Show” on February 27th!

This is the first time a singer has being given a full hour to promote their comeback on a public broadcast network since the legendary Seo Taiji.

Given the rarity of such an opportunity, it seems that SBS deemed Big Bang as worthy of the time because of the history they’ve built up both in Korea and overseas.

SBS representatives have put a gag order on the directors in order to keep Big Bang’s newest songs under wraps until the special airs.

Meanwhile, it was revealed that with the exception of the intro track, the other 6 from their mini album will be promoted as title tracks at one shot.

It’s no secret that Super Junior enjoys a large fan following on the international platform; in fact, it was informally revealed yesterday that the male group would be featured on an upcoming episode of the Arabic program SCOOP by Raya Abirached.

According to Abirached’s Wiki page, SCOOP is the most famous entertainment show of the Middle East. Abirached, a Lebanese-British TV presenter, is extremely well-known in the Middle East as one of the first Arab journalists to interview Arabic stars (Omar Sherif, Ragheb Alama) as well as top tier music stars (Beyonce, Mariah Carey, Shakira), film celebrities (Tom Cruise, Angelina Jolie, George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, Nicole Kidman, Clint Eastwood etc) and other names from sports and fashion. She has mentioned working with Justin Bieber, Sarah Jessica Parker, Paris Hilton, Michelle Williams as Ryan Gosling as well. Abriached also hosted the American Idol competition in Dubai and is co-presenting Qusai Kheder Arab’s Got Talent.

On Twitter yesterday, Abirached (@rayascoop) tweeted, “After Got Talent, i am doing a Super Junior KPOP invasion on SCOOP, that’s April!” It’s unclear what kind of program this will be, but it seems to be a feature on the Hallyu Wave with a special focus on Super Junior, as they are indisputably one of the forerunners of the Hallyu phenomenon.

It’s definitely exciting to see Super Junior getting this kind of international attention. I’m sure many of our readers are looking forward to this upcoming episode, so stay tuned to allkpop as we follow this matter!

How Did Super Junior Conquer China?

When you ask people in China interested in Hallyu on who they think is the most representative Korean idol group, they will most likely choose Super Junior. How did Super Junior who holds their own sold out concerts in Asia conquer China, the nucleus of the Asia market?

A media in China recently analyzed the charms of Super Junior and the reason behind their success. The popularity of the song “Sorry Sorry” is especially astonishing. ” Sorry Sorry” is still being chosen as the favorite song of Hallyu fans in China.

The song which is characterized by unique choreography and addicting lyrics is gaining popularity in all over Asia and not just in China. The song was number one on the charts for over 30 weeks in Taiwan. It was an unprecedented incident and only the song “Sorry Sorry” could be heard in the cities of Taiwan at that time.

Even though there were changes in the number of members for the past 5 years, Super Junior is still the top male idol group in Asia. They became the symbol of Hallyu in a short time. Their choreography of rubbing hands together became Asia’s national choreography that everyone imitated. It was so popular that many illegal copies of the album were uploaded online. Many fans imitated their dance and uploaded them to get reviews. The song’s easy yet addicting choreography was the key factor in the song’s popularity.

Leeteuk said, “people don’t like the song only. They also like the special choreography where many members dance simultaneously. That’s the reason why many people in Asia like the song.”

When Super Junior goes to China, over 10,000 girls fill the audience shaking the group’s symbol blue lightstick. The Chinese media is surprised by their strength. They analyzed, “Super Junior’s popularity comes not just from their handsome looks but it also comes from their various talents which have been developed during their years of training.”

Korean idols especially Super Junior has the ability to do advanced choreography while singing live. China is interested in Super Junior as well as their unit activities. The critics said Super Junior K.R.Y. has superb singing ability while Super Junior M made up of Siwon, Ryeowook, Kyuhyun, Donghae, Henry and Zhoumi make a great team.

Super Junior M’s localization strategy has been an advantage. They sang Chinese songs and took over the China market. On this subject, member Choi Siwon said, “Super Junior M purposely put Chinese members in the group to aim at the China market. Because they speak Chinese well, they understand the country’s tone.”

With these various sides of Super Junior, they broke the rule, ‘a group disbands 5 years after it debuts.’ The Chinese media said, “Chinese public always look for new things. Super Junior has many members that they give off the feeling of freshness and they are able to receive love for a long time.”

Super Junior fever is currently reaching the U.S. On September of last year, the concert that was held in Los Angeles sold out garnering much interest. They are not satisfied with the Asia market. They also want to target the U.S. market.

The Chinese media said, “Super Junior is super star who receives love from all the people. Sometimes, they are like our close neighbors. The reason they receive continuous love from many fans is because they are talented in various fields and not just in singing and they are also sincere.”

DSP Media responds to Hara’s recent ’scandals’

Quantcast

KARA’s representatives have expressed their disappointment with the continued circulation of rumors on the internet because of a few pictures.

Goo Hara was previously swept in a scandal with 2PM’s Chansung, and was recently caught in another one with CNBLUE’s Yonghwa over screencaps of the two interacting.

One representative stated, “Goo Hara naturally has an outgoing personality and has a lot of friends, both male and female. She makes the other person feel comfortable and is great at interacting in conversations. Because of such reasons, she’s much loved with not only seniors, but broadcast representatives as well.”

They continued, “It’s quite surprising that this has become a scandal now. The entire world knows that she’s close friends with Chansung. She’s friends with Jung Yonghwa as well.”

Another representative confirmed, “You can tell that there is no base behind the rumors when you look at the video. Misunderstandings are arising from a few screencaps.”

According to the representatives, Hara is close enough with Chansung to play casual jokes, and they share a ’sister/brother’ relationship, which they understand could be misinterpreted by fans as ‘dating’.

Representatives of JYP Entertainment added, “We’re not sure who took those pictures, but Chansung himself told us that they were pictures of him and Hara rehearsing for a variety show.”

Super Junior won "Best Selling Album" at the "2010 Gaon Chart Awards"

Super Junior was honored with the distinction of having 2010’s “Best Selling Album”, as determined by the ‘2010 Gaon Chart Awards‘ in an awards ceremony on February 9th.

The boys released their fourth full album, “Bonamana“, last year and it managed to sell a total of 200,193 album units to come in first in terms of physical album sales.

The group’s leader, Lee Teuk, expressed on stage after receiving the award, “We’re very happy to receive such a big award at a fair and authoritative awards ceremony. If America has the Billboard Charts and Japan has the Oricon Charts, Korea has the Gaon Charts. Every year when we go on promotions, we personally experience how it feels to be the boom of the Hallyu Wave not only in Asia, but all around the world. We will work harder in our activities.”

During the ceremony, Gaon Charts’ official offline sales data was revealed for the first time since the Recording Industry Association’s aggregates were suspended in the latter half of 2008. Online charts were also revealed for the very first time.

The Gaon Charts is the national record chart of South Korea and compiles data from online digital sales and from offline sales (both domestic and overseas).

Meanwhile, Kang Seung Yoon and G.NA were awarded the male and female rookie awards respectively. For all the chart results, please visit the Gaon official website.

Super Junior's Leeteuk revealed that he dated an older woman!

During MBC Every1’s “Super Junior’s Foresight“, Leeteuk made a shocking confession about dating an older woman.

Leeteuk said that he received ’special management’ from an older woman during his trainee days, and he went on to reminisce about the relationship.

When asked about the perks of dating someone older, Leeteuk explained that he was mentally comfortable with her, and that she was able to provide for him. He claimed that she took care of him from head to toe, and even gave him a bit of pocket change whenever he went shopping or to the salon.

Fellow member Shindong took the edge off Leeteuk’s confession by joking, “Leeteuk wasn’t raised by our CEO, he was raised by the older woman.”

Later on during the episode, Leeteuk shocked the audience once more by engaging with another older woman during a “Secret Garden” parody segment, where castmates took on the famous ‘foam kiss’ and ’sit-up’ scenes from the drama.

Leeteuk and Kim Ji Hyun were partnered up to pull off a twist on the sit-up scene, for which they held a chocolate pepero between their lips. Tensions rose in the studio as the snack got shorter and shorter, until member Kyuhyun snapped it completely by suddenly pushing on Leeteuk’s back, forcing him to kiss his female partner. The studio immediately erupted into a chaotic mass of screams and cheers.
